Healthcom 2001: Enterprise networking and computing in the healthcare industry

The third international workshop on Enterprise Networking and Computing in Health Care Industry is a forum that bring together clinicians, hospital administrators, software developers, researchers, educators, healthcare system vendors, and consultants to discuss the recent trends and emerging issues in the development and integration of healthcare systems based on a networked computing infrastructure, such as the Internet. Healthcom was successfully held in Sydney, Australia in 1999 and 2000.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborative health care strategies
  • Remote patient care systems
  • Interoperability of heterogeneous health information systems
  • Evolving international standards, such as HL7, XML and GEHR
  • Role of distributed object models, such as CORBA, DCOM, etc
  • Telemedicine systems including multimedia technologies
  • Role of wireless mobile technologies
  • User experiences with deployment of health informatics systems
  • Security issues in Internet-based health information systems
  • Implementation experiences with medical informatics

Submission of papers
Prospective authors are requested to electronically submit a one page abstract in plain text form to Pradeep Ray (p.ray@unsw.edu.au), and the full paper (IEEE format and not exceeding 12 pages including all diagrams and references) to the workshop secretariat (healthcom2001@ssgrr.it). Both the abstract and the full paper must have the names, affiliations and full contact details (including email addresses) of all authors. Please mention with your abstract the name of the session your paper is most suitable. All submitted papers will be reviewed by International experts in the Program Committee, and accepted papers will be published in the Workshop Proceedings. Please include in the submission the following statement ¨All necessary clearances for the publication of this paper have been obtained¨.

Important dates
Submission of abstracts and papers: March 16, 2001
Notifications of Acceptance mailed: April 30, 2001
Camera-ready papers due: May 24, 2001
Registration deadline: June 8, 2001
At least one of the authors of each accepted paper must register for the event within the registration deadline for the paper to be included in the proceedings.

Venue
The conference will be held at Scuola Superiore G. Reiss Romoli (SSGRR) in L’Aquila, Italy. SSGRR is the Education Center of the Telecom Italia Group of Companies.
