Evidence-based practice and care pathways
A free conference sponsored by the BMJ, ASSIST and BMiS
Monday, 12 May 2003
BMA House, Tavistock Square, London
It is widely believed that healthcare should be more evidence based. There
are a number of groups producing some excellent material, but is that
enough? How do we ensure that evidence actually influences practice?
Suggested solutions include making the education of health professionals
more evidence based and improving real-time access to the material so that
it can be used during the consultation (ie when and where it is needed).
Are care pathways the vehicle for delivering
evidence-based medicine? Should supporting care pathways be a core aim of
the NHS's IT programme?
This event is designed to explore these
questions. There will be a mix of discussion presentations, previews of the
latest innovations and we will hear from some of those who have successfully
implemented care pathways that have led to more evidence based practice.
Attendance is free and includes a sandwich
lunch, however there are LIMITED PLACES AVAILABLE.
The programme and speakers are still being
compiled, but for now you can keep abreast of any developments at the
event's temporary website:
http://ukhi.org.uk/events/

You can also register for this event via the
above link.
In the meantime, I will be more than happy to
answer any questions.
I would be very grateful if you could forward
this email onto others that you think might be interested in this event.
