NHS Web portal for IT training

From the UK NHS Information Authority

A new web portal giving users one-stop access to basic IT skills training will go live on March 21. The portal will give thousands of NHS staff and health communities the functionality and resources needed to raise skill
levels to the NHS standard for basic IT skills, and to support the successful implementation of many of the coming NHS IT applications.

The NHS ECDL Portal will include:

  • in-application training materials including pre-assessments and quizzes to aid with self evaluation of achievement;
  • in-application accredited tests online;
  • unlimited practise tests allowing candidates to check their competence prior to taking the actual tests;
  • the flexibility to integrate ECDL instructor led training as part of the programme to help consolidate new skills; and
  • monitoring and tracking of all staff undertaking this qualification for individual, group, community, strategic health authority and NHS-wide reporting.
