Vestel, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of television sets announced that all its televisions will have the revolutionary Mail TV application installed.

The Mail TV communications system enables televisions to send and receive email.  It has been developed by World CallNet and ZiLOG Inc.

The Mail TV system brings one of the most successful applications of the Internet into peoples homes through simple TV connection.  The system will have email, text, home banking and shopping facilities, all based on local telephone charges.

In the UK, Mail TV enabled 'Alba' and 'Bush' television ranges are expected to be available during the second half of 1999.  Vestel also make television sets for over 40 countries world-wide including Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

This Journal believes that this development has major implications for health care delivery and applications.  We support and encourage it fully.
