HISCOM and POLYDOC to collaborate on medical knowledge management systems

HISCOM and POLYDOC have announced the signing of an agreement that will result in a close collaboration for the ongoing development of information systems which support medical protocols. Under the terms of the agreement POLYDOC will integrate its experience and QualiFlow healthcare knowledge management product with HISCOM solutions such as the Mirador/Care Workstation and Knowledge Base.

As a result of this partnership, both parties will also ensure that their products and concepts are brought into line with developments within Pro-GRAM B.V., a company founded jointly in 1998 between the University Hospitals of Amsterdam (AZVU), Maastricht (AZM) and Groningen (AZG) and POLYDOC, in which the Hospital Partners have a specific responsibility to contribute knowledge and content in relation to medical protocols.

"This is a winning partnership for medical information technology in the Netherlands," said HISCOM's CEO, Cees van den Heijkant and POLYDOC’s Managing Director, Richard Maddocks. "In the short term we expect that both HISCOM and POLYDOC customers will benefit from synergistic results that will emerge from this new relationship."

Both HISCOM and POLYDOC are partners in the Dutch Government’s ZON-Project, which strongly urges the need and rapid development of EPD (Electronic Patient Dossier) systems to provide safety, quality and performance to meet higher standards in Dutch healthcare.
