TEAC-Health

From Ruth Roberts (Miss) - 09 March 2006

'Towards Evaluation and Certification of Health Care Telematics Services in Europe' (TEAC-Health) User Survey DGXIII (of the European Commission) has commissioned the TEAC-Health project to:

  1. investigate the requirements and possibilities of setting up a European scheme for evaluation and certification of healthcare application software and telematics services
  2. propose a strategy of action by the European Commission and other relevant parties and to report back before the end of the year.

There has been rapid development in information and communication technology in health care related information services. Whilst telematics applications have a major potential to improve the quality of health care, the developments also have the potential to create new problems and possible risks to citizens health. The project has used the phrase healthcare application software and telematics services has been used to cover health systems such as laboratory systems, hospital information systems, electronic patient records; telemedicine, video conference systems; electronic library databases, Internet web sites etc; and services such as networks, standardisation and national co-ordination frameworks.

Further information about the project is available at http://www.multimedica.com/teac

This European wide user survey is being undertaken as part of the investigation stage of the project and is seeking information from:

  • healthcare professionals
  • healthcare managers and policy makers
  • payers (health insurance organisations)
  • health care researchers
  • citizens/patients

We would like to obtain as wide a view as possible and would be grateful if you would complete the questionnaire (select the TEAC-Health menu at the website).  If you feel that someone else in your organisation would be more appropriate to answer this survey, please could you pass the information on to them. Also, if there is someone besides yourself who would be interested in participating, please share this information with them.

Any data collected will not be attributed to individuals. The survey data analysis will commence in July 1999 so please could you complete the questionnaire by 16 July 1999. The survey will remain on the website until 16 July 1999.

Thank you for your time and interest in the project. The final project report will be available on the website towards the end of December 1999.
