The SynEx Projectleave-site.gif (146 bytes)

SynEx is a 2-year European Health Telematics project that addresses the issues of the provision and use of multimedia patient records across large enterprise-wide networks.

It brings together leading-edge European work on federated healthcare records (Synapses), healthcare information systems architectures (HISA), terminology services (GALEN) and decision support formalisms (ProForma).

SynEx will consolidate, harmonise and integrate their results and apply them in a form that makes them ready to be packaged into products. The focus of the project will be the deployment of intuitive health care services to support evidence-based clinical practice in a range of settings across Europe.

SynEx intends to become an Industry-led Standard for shared and distributed health records on heterogeneous systems. Based on this standard, SynEx aims to produce a portfolio of products for commercial use that are generic, modular, and re-usable.
