Patients'
rights in the Slovak Republic
This proposed twelve month project is to analyze
the condition of , compare it with several other countries, find out what the
general perception of the state of patients' rights in the Slovak Republic are
by conducting a brief inquiry in all regions. A project outcome will be the
publication of a brochure consisting of the analysis, comparison, results of the
inquiry and proposed solutions - a proposal of a declaration of patients' rights
and a proposal for changes in existing relevant legislation.
In the first phase, the project team will collect
all relevant information on patients' rights in the Slovak Republic. This will
include published documents, such as ratified international declarations,
conventions and covenants on patients' rights; national materials, such as
ethical codes of professional healthcare organizations, working papers on
patients' rights from professional healthcare associations and patients'
advocacy groups, bibliography and comments on the current state of patients'
rights and needs for change.
The project team will collect significant international documents on patients'
rights, such as declarations, conventions and covenants, proclaimed and approved
by leading world organizations, such as the World Health Organization, the
United Nations and the Council of Europe. Several national declarations of
patients' rights will be collected from several European countries, the U.S.A.
and Canada.
