In
another first for the Internet, a Seattle
hospital broadcast live images Tuesday of a woman
having open heart surgery. Providence Seattle
Medical Center broadcast images of an open-heart
bypass on a 57-year old Seattle resident, Gloria
Snoddy, taken by a head-mounted camera worn by
surgeon Robert Lazzara. "This interactive
technology will enable us to communicate in
real-time with other physicians and educate the
general public on advances in heart surgery
anywhere in
the world, at any time," Dr. Lazzara said in
a statement issued before surgery began.
"The implications of ( the) first Internet
transmission of open heart surgery are truly
limitless.
