Medical Informatics Linköpings

The Division of Medical Informatics at Linköping
University, Sweden was founded in 1973 as a part
of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and
is formally a part of the Institute of Technology
but also affiliated to the Faculty of Health
Sciences. Research
is specialized in developing methods and
techniques for representation, storage,
processing, communication and presentation of
medical data and knowledge.
Courses are given
in Medical Informatics on both the undergraduate
and graduate levels at both the Faculty of Health
Sciences and the Institute of Technology.
There are 13
employees, 6 of whom are Ph.D. students. The head
of the Division is Professor Ove Wigertz, D.Sc.,
D.Med.
We are located at the University Hospital in
Linköping, a large regional hospital with about
750 beds.
