The EU maze

It never ceases to amaze me how the EU has managed to disperse its Web sites so much that I always find it difficult to get to the information I need quickly.

This short guide to the various EU sites that are relevant to health informatics aims to guide you quickly through the EU maze.

The abbreviations explained:

EU: European Union
DG: Directorate General
CORDIS: Community Research and Development Information Service
ISPO: Information Society Project Office
TAP: Telematics Applications Programme

The sites:

  • EU main site: Europa leave-site.gif (146 bytes)
    The main EU server covering all institutions.  The site carries news, policies, institutions, documents and the multilingual official public information.
  • CORDIS leave-site.gif (146 bytes)
    CORDIS carries everything on R&D and industrial policies, call for tenders, projects, partners, publications, events and the 4th and 5th Framework focus
  • I'M Europe leave-site.gif (146 bytes)
    Site for DGXIII,  Info2000, TAPand TEN.

    The TAP pages carry calls, events, documents, guidelines, model contract and various forms.
  • ISPO leave-site.gif (146 bytes)
    This site carries all material from DGIII and XIII on the 'Information Society', calls, projects, the G7 projects and GIP (Global Inventory Project).
