Advanced Computation Laboratory (ACL) - Imperial Cancer Research Fund London leave-site.gif (146 bytes)

The Imperial Cancer Research Fund is Europe's largest independent cancer research organisation; it carries out one third of all cancer research in the UK.

The ACL carries out research to develop advanced computer technologies which can assist clinicians in preventing, detecting, diagnosing and treating cancer.

The theory and application of logic programming and Artificial Intelligence are particular areas of research interest. Our work requires skills from many disciplines, including mathematics and software engineering, as well as biology and medicine. The interdisciplinary approach has proved successful in yielding fundamental insights as well as practical computer applications.

The work of the laboratory is extensively supported by UK national funding bodies and the European Commission.

Technologies and software products originating in the department are being commercialised by InferMed, a joint venture between Imperial Cancer Research Technology Ltd ( the technology transfer company of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund), and Integral Solutions Limited
